What is Green Economy?

green economy 2« The green economy is one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities. »

Based on the concept of sustainable development, the green economy takes into account the environmental matters and is divided into six main sectors:

  • Renewable Energy
  • Green Buildings
  • Clean Transportation
  • Water Management
  • Land Management
  • Waste Management

The green economy concept was created in response to the environmental, economic and social crisis that our world has been facing in the past decades. The consumption literally exploded as well as the population, these facts lead to an over-exploitation of the natural resources. The financial and economical short-termist system also appeared to be flawed and to have negative impact on the environment. These alarming observations also appeared with the deregulation of the market and their internationalization.

The dependence on natural resources is strong, the economy needs them and this is why they have to be preserved.

Many actors can participate into creating a green economy: trade unions, organisations, businesses but also political parties. It is not only about thinking “green” but also about re-organising the system to make it sustainable.  The aim for them is to find prosperity within the planet’s limits by making clever and viable investments.

This is the exact idea about Moorbi. We are not only thinking green but acting and supporting it. We ask everyone to get inspired by our designer and the DIY videos. Living green does not need to cost much and can be extremely fashionable.
